With 4.5k - 5k to spend (TV/receiver/speakers/cables)...
Discussion
I currently have a Pioneer 436XDE plasma panel, Sony STR-DB935 receiver and some Energy (think UK supplied ones were badged Mirage) small surround speakers/active sub...
If I were to replace these items with a budget of 4.5-5k or so, what would be the collective view on what to get?
Am thinking circa 2k on the TV, 1.5k on the receiver and 1k on speakers, with another 0.5k (give or take from the other items) on sundries (brackets, cables etc).
Speakers need to be as unobtrusive as possible. The rest just needs to be as good as I can buy.
Will obviously spend some time having a good look, but views on narrowing the options would be appreciated

We would normally put the Dali Fazon's with a Pioneer SC-LX73 and a Panasonic 50V20 together for this budget. The Pioneer/Dali sound works very well together and will give you excellent surround sound and good stereo performance. If you have a big room swap out the Dali sub for a Paradigm Seismic 110. The whole system will give you excellent performance and look good. The build quality on all items is strong.
Just a starting point - I am sure there will be many alternative suggestions.

Thanks chaps.
How does the Panasonic compare with the older Pioneers? Picture quality, even with broadcast SD content, on the Pioneer is superb.
I suspect the Gallos may end up being more "other half friendly" (unless I went for yellow!) What's the verdict on B&W? Have seen the MT-30 package and they're about the sort of size I'd want in the room concerned I think (or smaller).

The V20 is a superior set to the 436 with all material - you will be very happy with one.
The Gallo's will be a better bet than the B&W's IMO - the MT30 money is in the sub. I really would suggest shifting the money over to the speakers/sub from the amp - you will get much bigger gains. If you are looking at the B&W style of speaker you could try the Tannoy Arena. They are exceptioanlly well made and can really perform. Build quality is not the be all and end all but if you get a chance try to see one on the wall or pick one up, you will see what I am on about. Sound wise match the Tannoys with a Yamaha 2067/3067 for the best performance.
