I would appreciate some advice please.Ten years ago I bought denon separates and mission floorstanding speakers to listen to music on- a decent system for a 6th form student. Fast forward 10 years and add 2 kids, and I dont listen to music much now, especially as the hifi got relegated to the loft when we redecorated 6 monts ago!

Looking for a system to improve sound when watching tv/films. I dont have a blu-ray player (just dvd) but would like one. All the speakers/wires for a 5.1 setup will not go down well with the mrs, unless they are particularly small and discreet and probably wireless. I have been looking at a yamaha soundbar as an option- a compromise on sound yes, but sound quality is not the only deciding factor. Budget is £400-£500. Soundbar seems a good option but are there 5.1 wireless packages with/without bluray players I can consider??

Thanks

Went to richer sounds for a general chat, very helpful. Leaning towards an onkyo htx22hdx in 2.1 guise. Anyone had experience of these? I did consider keeping my old receiver and swapping floorstanders for bookshelf but not sure that I could connect HD box and blu ray up to it. Onkyo I guess is made for use with tv

Have a look at avforums - plenty of guys there seems to like it.

We are moving into a new house early next year and will also need some good looking sound with not too many speakers. I am looking at either the KEF KIT series or the NAD VISO Two + pod speakers.
