Tv for my flat
Discussion
Apologies for the nameless other thread, no broadband yet so I'm on iPhone and missed it.
Ok, I've just moved into my own flat, tv at the moment is an Elgato stick in my MacBook. In the room, when the furniture comes, there will be about 2-2.5m viewing distance. I'm on a budget and I'm looking at about £500. There will be a PS3 and Xbox 360 connected for games and DVD/Blu Ray, and probably the MacBook too. LCD seems to be the way to go for the games. Low energy use would be good too, future plans are decent speakers and setting up a mac permanently into the tv as a media box. Just been Internet looking so far, going off to a store today to see how picture quality compares. For size on the budget I've been looking at 37", mainly the Samsung LE37 series but found a lot about buzzing and lag in games even with 'game mode' turned on. Not got much further than that so far.
Any help is appreciated, I'm not looking to have an Odeon in my front room, just a good picture for the blu ray and minimum lag for the games.

Went to Currys, had a look and had a chat with a guy there, and I've made a shortlist...
These were Freeview HD
Samsung LE32C650
Samsung UE32C6000 (LED and a bit more expensive)
Panasonic TXL32S20B
These were Freeview
LG 32LE5300
LG 37LD450
LG 32LD550
I'm thinking that if it's a HD screen then I may as well get onto the freebie HD channels.

There arent really a lot of freebie (or paid for) HD channels at the moment, might be worth saving a few bucks on the HD tuner as I assume you'll be watching all your TV through an HD tuner card in your Mac before long??
Alternatively dont get the HD tuner and get a HD Freeview hard-disk recorder box thingie as you'll almost certainly be wanting to series link stuff at some point.
Just seems a bit redundant paying for the HD tuner when you're possibly not going to be using it for very long.

if you do alot of gaming, have you thought about a 50" LG? (max inches for min cost)
I noticed you can get the LG50PK350 for 570+
I have the LG50PK590 which i believe is basically the same TV as the 350 except the 350 doesnt have the FreeviewHD.
I sit only 2m from mine aswell in the gamesroom, but its superb for xboxing.
Having the extra inches and being able to pick a headshot over 3/4's the length of the map is where its at
Mine is setup with freeviewHD/xbox360/ps3/media server and whatever im viewing the quality is outstanding. Im not sure its as good quality as the 42" panny viera in my lounge - (testing HD footy during the WC) but its pretty damn close if not a match for it. (but any difference in TV quality could be down to SkyHD's broadcast quality (panny in lounge) v's Freeview (LG).
I'd deffo look to the extra inches tho if you really like your gaming..

Whatever size TV you think will be fine, add a few inches just incase
I thought my 40" was massive when I got it, not I think it's tiny.
