Ok,dumb question,is sat dish cable same as aerial cable?
Discussion
Decided to get rid of V+ box due to loads of technical issues.Was going to buy freeview HD recorder but was talked round to Freesat as it has more channels.So there just happens to be a redundant satellite dish on my wall,the cable coming into the house has a black outer coating and the innards look identical to normal aerial cable,is this correct?Is it the same as aerial cable?

it is the same type of cable, but the quality of the cable varies widly. I would hazard a guess that if the cable comes from a dish already and assuming isnt damaged in anyway, that it is adequate. Dish alignment may need a tweak, but plug in a mates sky box and see if it works. :thumb:rfisher said:
Slightly OT but;
Can you connect a dish cable and a standard aerial cable together and only have 1 cable entering the house carrying both signals?
yes you can. How you get it from there to where you want it to go is another question. Contact a decent SKY installer because he'll need to discuss it with you. Can you connect a dish cable and a standard aerial cable together and only have 1 cable entering the house carrying both signals?
