Hi all,
Looking at moving across to digital music playing Apple Lossless files from iMac or MacBook with or without and airport express.
At the weekend i visited a friends and demoed a Weiss Dac2 and a Lavry DA10, both from a Macbook, they were very good, the Weiss was better but not twice the price better. I am very tempted by the Lavry but at the other end of the scale is the Beresford Caiman which also gets excellent reviews.
I am having trouble finding any information on these two together. Does anyone one have exprience of both of these and can offer some comments.
Thanks
D

Good choice.
I am an audiophile by interest and an audio engineer as a day job and been running without a CD player for the last 3 years.
Luckily for me the AV decoder I have has very decent Apogee clocking and very good DAC already for 2 channel audio, which through a lot of testing even edged out a Chord DAC 64.
The Lavry stuff does have a very good standing in the pro-audio world for DA. That said, have seen the Weiss but never heard a comparison.
The only thing I would add is how the Apple lossless files get decoded. Are they decoded back to 16 bit 44.1k in the Macbook or is the decoding done in the DAC?
