always reading this forum as I get closer to doing 2 installs and not looking to get specific advice as to where to buy, what to buy etc to get the best comprimise between price and performance.

I have two rooms which are going to be set up.

The first is our living room which is approx 25ft long. The end wall we are blocking up the window and placing in a housing unit so we'll be watching down the length of the room from approx distance to screen being 11ft.

For the living room I am thinking 40 or 42inch tv and the Panasonic plasma's seem the best choice but open to alternatives. We have an old Philips 5.1 decoder/amp which will suit for the living room so for this just looking for tv advice.

The next room is the studio/cinema room. It has great sound qualities. Here is a raw room that is begging for top spec screen and a good blu-ray and surround system (5.1 is there a point in 7.1?) and speakers. I want something thats got good music performance but as I am not an audiphile the quality does not have to be pin sharp.

Speakers at tv end i dont mind being large and on stands but the rear speakers I want to possibly mount at ceiling height (2.5m) behind the steating area. Preferably a smallish profile or easily detached as I use the room for photography and dont want too much clutter. I appreciate satelite speakers do not need to be too big...

This is the room the studio/cinema is to be set up in, it is approx 3m wide by 7.5m long and well soundproofed and insulated, I want to be able to crank the sound up:

Basically if you had a blank canvas what would you do (projectors are out of question)
