Hi!

Tonight I'm hoping to watch a hockey game between the Flyers and Canadiens on the internet, however had hoped to somehow send the image from the latop to the tv so that the girlfriend could watch it with me too in comfort rather than huddled around a 15" monitor.

I've had a search, but the only options seems to be S-video to S-video, or HDMI to HDMI. Our laptop only has usb ports and the tv only has HDMI, PC Input and RCA Inputs.

Thanks for any help

P.S If you could suggest websites to purchase the required parts from it'd be appreciated! Cheers!

One of these to carry the video signal, and one of these to carry the sound.

That is if your TV has an 'aux-in' function, which it almost certainly should.

If not, you need a 3.5mm jack to RCA.

Thanks, you are my superhero!!!! biggrin

We'll probably run the sound off the laptop as I've attached speakers that are better than the TV!

Thanks a lot for the help :-)

oh and once connected, will the picture automatically transfer to the TV? Or will the laptop prompt me? Or do I have to change display settings?

The laptop is running on Vista :-)

Thanks again

You will proberbly have to turn on the laptops VGA output, its usually something like FN+F4, different laptops do it differently.

Worked fine biggrin Thanks for the help!

It actually worked first time and all we had to do was adjust the "source" on the tv, so there was no need for fiddling with the laptop :-) One problem we did encounter was not the screensaver, but the eco energy saver which went into "sleep" mode every 15 minutes (hippies, not only spoiling my driving but also my hockey experience!!!). Luckily we found it at the end of the first period and stopped it biggrin

We bought a Belkin SVGA cable and the quality on the tv was fantastic, was very surprised as we'd read a lot about the quality dropping on the tv so would highly recommend what we bought :-)

P.S Flyers won 3-0 against the Canadiens biggrin
