HDMI

Keep it simple unless you physically cannot.

I have a buget for aroud 80-100£ for a 10 meter cable. Richer sounds told me i should be looking to spend £200 if i want to go 10 meter, of course they had the cable in stock and in his hand waiting

Is it possible to get a decent 10m cable for my budget or should i look at the hdmi balons?

It all comes down to my budge. Can i get a decent cable for that or should i go foe the balons?

The argument with a HDMI cable is it's digital, just 1's and 0's, so quality is a non-issue assuming its poorly put together.

I'd have thought £100 would be fine for a 10m cable, i certainly wouldn't be spending much more.

Yes, and no.

That's the old nutshell of 'it's just 1s and 0s', therefore the laws of physics no longer apply and the signal can never get distorted and can travel in infinite distance without degradation.

The HDMI standard is such that a huge amount of data is transported, especially with 1080p and uncompressed 8 channel audio. You might be able to get that down a £5 cable over 1m if you are lucky, but as the length gets longer this multiplies the impurities in the cable, and the maximum bandwidth possible down the cable drops off.

So, you could get 'a signal' down a £10 10m HDMI cable, but the top cables will effectively be able to transport 5 or 10 times the bandwidth of data without signal loss, allowing your uncompressed audio and 1080p.

The OP should be able to get a 1080p rated 10m cable for under a ton or thereabouts.

Another argument for getting the better cable is compatability.

There are different versions of HDMI and some devices don't work properly on older/cheaper cables.

A saw that one, when I got the link, and I must be honest, 2160p over 10m sounds possibly too good to be true, but the specs do add up to HDMI 1.3 as it had the right bandwidth.

However, they do a 30 day money back guarantee, so I guess there is nothing to lose. Try it out, and if it works, then thats great.

The other branded options will probably in the region of £100-£120.
