Help needed choosing a TV
Discussion
Hi everyone,
Got my new PS3 the other day, and have the green light for a new TV to go with it!
Original budget was around £400, but having had a nose around im going to up the budget to £500.
Want at least 42" as a upgrade from a 37".
Going into Richer Sounds on Tuesday to hopefully have a look at the LG LH3000 and the Panasonic TXL42U2B.
Found a review on the LG, cant find anything on the Panny - hopefully will get to look at both, but wondered if anyone had any experiences with either?
There are a couple of wildcards in all this - a Sharp Sharp AQUOS LC46X8E and a LG 50PQ20, both as last few 'open box' specials. Not thinking much about these, as usually it seems RS' clearance pages dont bear much resemblance to whats in the store, but if its a question of 42" vs 50", then the only sticking point (as long as there decent TV's) is i have a 84" screen for the projector, so is a 50" overkill? Hmmm...!

The LCD U2 model is a Europe mainland one, and from the specs, not all that great.
No 42" LCD bar the D25 LED-backlit one, that I can see, so for your budget of £500, I'd suggest you seriously consider the 42X20 Plasma TV above the rest.
Whilst not offering native 1080p resolution - only useful if you'll be sat 5' from the TV anyhow - it's performance over the U2, and other LCD's of comparable cost, will be enough to make do with 'only' 768 vertical pixels to illuminate.
