Hey all, I'm currently looking for a new TV for the upcoming world cup, research suggest plasmas are best for sports. Anyway I have approx £600-1000 and looking for something 46-50in, 1080p, dlna certified and has usb/avi playback capability. while I have found many, I have no idea about who produces good plasmas and what other things toi look out for? any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

For what is worth i currently have virgin hd, ps3 and currently use 42inch 1080p tosh regaza LCD.

Any other advice/tips/things to look out for re: plasma's would be appreciated.

Thanks

I know that a lot of us seem to be some kind of collective broken record, but it's yet another recommendation for a Panasonic G20.

How far you sit from it will define whether you 'need' 1080p and nothing else.

2m with a 46-50" G20 Plasma in front, will let you see the additional detail on BR movie discs at 1080p, but as broadcast HD is 720p and 1080i, the scaler in the TV will be taking those and guessing some pixels to fill all 1920x1080 that comprise the screen's make up.

If BR movies isn't something for consideration, then a 42X20 from Panasonic will fit the bill nicely - and on a number of sites, can be had for £500 ish.
