As I'm looking for a V20 I've been reading up on this on AV Forums and I think I can't see the wood for the trees.

So simple questions for the experts on here:
  • Do a high percentage of the xxx10 range of screens suffer from this? I have a G10 at home and haven't noticed anything.
  • Would the 'casual' viewer notice this drop in levels? By casual I mean I've taken the screen out of the 'shop' mode, got it setup to a level that I'm happy with but not bothered with buying calibration DVDs etc etc
  • Finally, does it happen over night or does it slowly slip away?
I'm looking forward to a sensible view rather than the doom mongers who seem to be on the AV Forums threads

Not something I've come across and we've done a few.

May I ask though why you're comparing a V20 with the Kuro engine for contrast management with the 10 series which doesnt have it?

I'm not comparing them, I was simply saying that I have the G10 at home and haven't noticed anything go 'wrong' with it.

Thing with AVForums is that it's big and there are a lot of people on there with a little knowledge.

What has happened before is that one person has a bona fide issue, then all of sudden (possibly due to ever lowering prices and the march of technology) every owner of that set says 'Oh, mine does that, can I get a free replacement?' etc and its spirals.

Don't get me wrong, there are a number of people on there with proper in depth weapons grade AV knowledge but they are very much in the minority and there are far too many bandwagon jumpers and hysterical consumers.

That's what worries me about AV Forums, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of middle ground with posters on there.

Unless I hear otherwise once they are out I'll pop down the shops, treat myself and crash on the couch and enjoy the thing.

I'm just looking for a bit of first hand realistic comments on them, and like you say you've not really seen much, it's all a bit blown out of proportion.

^ True

I bought a KDL40D3000 (A brilliant TV, still today IMO) and the forums were rife with 'clouding' issues and loads of other crap.

I deal with these sets daily we have over 2000 out on rental many more sales and we are also a Panasonic dealer who take in repairs from other retailers, I can honestly say that I havent come across 1 set with this problem and believe me im actively looking for it. The bigger problem with the Panasonics is vibrating sound wink
I also stay away from AVS as there are lots of people on there with internet only knowledge and worse than that they have light meters!! Personally I use my eyes to watch TV not a light meter wink
