Panasonic PWD6 no HDMI, now got Sky HD
Discussion
Guys
a friend of mine has a TH42pwD6 with a BNC componant/SHVS card installed.
She has ordered SKY HD and the box has come and she asked if I could sort fitting it...
Will it be worth getting the ebay leads that use HDMI-componant? or a converter ? I'm not sure if this panel would even display HD and she doesnt like the sound of £120+ for a converter :-)
Ive seen a scart to componant lead for £20 and think that may be the way to go but explaining that the tenner a month will be a waste!
Oh she needs a 3m lead too so that helps... would have to get a HDMI- rca componant lead then a connector and a rca-bnc companant lead...phew!

You could alternatively try a HD Fury assuming the panel has a VGA input which it should have by default.

Not too bad a price to swallow for HD. Better than £100.
(oops just noticed previous comment re resolution, but it should still work as I understand it is 720P capable).

I have a PWD6 as well and managed to score a Sky HD box with component output. Oh and it is a marked improvement to SD even given the resolution of the panel. Will not be easy finding but well worth sourcing a refurbed Sky box with component if you can find one!
For example when watching Wimbledon from the usual camera view the net is a blur. On bbc hd channel you get a clearly defined net with squares and everything. The PWD6 has excellent processing which explains its popularity.

Im pretty sure that the S/Video card was composite not component (but i could be wrong, its a long time since i fiddled with one) either way with the PW6 you can use the VGA input as a component input with the correct lead and a menu option change so you dont have to buy a component card. You can buy a scart card for them that gives a good picture from a sky box too.a friend of mine has a TH42pwD6 with a BNC componant/SHVS card installed.

Thats why I said scart to componant lead ! It has componant imput but they are BNC ones not RCA, SVHS and composite. Cant remember the card id but have seen an HDMI card for £160 and its for the 8 series and im sure the more knowledgable will say no point cos of the resolution.
She got the box on the self install option, free, but she only really wants the larger hard disc as she has the old 40gb model if HD was there then she thought that was a bonus
I guess I will give her 2 options ...new telly or connected but £10 a month for nowt !
