Folks,

I'm after a 32/37" TV for our new dining/family space. It doesn't have to be the dogs fanglies, but having a few Viera's in the house at the moment - don't realy want to dip below that standard I suppose smile

The issue is that I'd like the TV to be as thin as possible - the Panny's are like housebricks and even with uber-flush mounts, they still look like they are perched ready to drop if you know what I mean. Modifying the wall is not an option, so I'm looking for the thinnest if possible - from memory the Panny's look to be around 15cm thick

So, thinnest, decent looking, decent performing TV recommendations warmly appreciated folks smile

Samsung LED look the dogs danglys on the wall when done correctly, most of the other LED's have rear facing connectors making mounting useless. The new panny LED's have a similar mounting problem.

Can you not use 90 degree bend HDMI adaptors to get the TV closer to the wall? I bought something similar to allow my HDMI cable to exit neatly to the rear of my projector.

Something like the 90 degree or 270 degree adaptors on this page:

I've bought cables and a HDMI splitter from this place, though I actually bought my right angled HDMI adpaptor elsewhere as they didn't make one that went 'sideways' rather than up or down like those shown.

Probably overkill for a dining room, but since your request was for something that looks good on the wall, check out the Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 10.

Looks superb, the standard 45 degree rotating bracket is cool as, the picture is brilliant, build quality stunning, and the sound is a different league to the other flat TVs you can buy.

The downside is it obviously costs a lot more than a Sharp.

You can but you also need to do something with the mains plus you sometimes end up blocking other connectors, with the Samsungs it has bee sorted out for you, if you use the right bracket the TV isnt even as proud as the arcitrave around your doors wink They dont have the best picture quality but for the bling factor they are king of the hill right now.

Cheers Headcase, I guess there's always something waiting to catch you out! I'm not too fussed about how far my TV sticks out as I currently have a 2-3 year old Sony LCD that is quite thick compared to current models. Whatever I buy to replace it will be thinner, but it's not as if I can see the depth from my seat any way...my PMC centre speaker sticks out further anyway, so why worry? smile

When I have been installing tv's I have quite often cut into and removed small sections of the wall behind the tv to make cable clearance better.
