So I've got a Panasonic DVD/VHS player/recorder that's about 4/5 years old and, tonight, has decided to pop its mortal coil. Checked all the vitals and had the top off to confirm that even the PSU is functioning but the lights are out.

Question is do I get it fixed or do I replace it? I don't need the VHS anymore - we've copied all the home movies of the kids to DVD - or do I replace it, and, if so what with?

Another DVD, Blu-ray? Can you get Blu-ray/DVD players? We've got quite a library of DVD's and I don't want to bin them just yet.

The system is a home cinema system with a Denon AV Receiver. Suggestions and recommendations?

All Blu Ray players can play DVD, part of the standard.
Certainly not worth repairing.

You can buy any BluRay player...it will still play DVDs as well, it will alos play CDs too if you insist. Look at Richer Sounds for some budget end of line models, such as the Sony BDP360 or 370: I've got the older BDP-S350 and I use it with a projector and a large screen...it's a cheap player, but good enough to be blown up to nearly 10 feet across.

At the price for the Pioneer player in this link, it's probably as cheap as getting your existing one repaired TBH. It's even BD live compatable (for what it's worth as I've not seen much worth looking at on BD live myself).

Thanks for the input. I'll take a look at that link. Just shows how out of touch I've become.
