I'm looking to upgrade my lounge TV and Home Cinema experience.
I upgraded my TV (with DeR) last year, and now I'm looking to get some discreet speakers and AMP. I've done some due diligence in What Hi-Fi and other mags and the B&W and KEF's always get a good reviews. Many of the blogs on-line and home cinema buffs sway people away from BOSE (Buy Other Stereo Equipment). Plotty and a few others have mentioned the Anthony Gallo Nucleus speakers system.

So I'm looking for...

discreet 5.1 surround speakers (Installed with channeling etc)
Small as possible AMP without out going silly on the budget

Any recommendations on equipment and installers are much appreciated.

budget?

I didn't get a small amp but had a Denon 1910 with B&W speakers, very happy with the improvement over the Bose I had previously.

Oh dear. Bose has been mentioned again. I have a Denon AVR 2805 based system in the UK with Monitor Audio fronts, centre and surrounds and an REL R505 sub. It sounds great and was installed 4 years ago by Sevenoaks.

A fortnight ago I installed and set up a factory renewed Bose V30 Lifestyle in another property and frankly for the small cash outlay - £2k for everything including all speaker mounts, I've been blown away, and of course it is all utterly discrete. It takes a leap of faith with all the bashing that goes on to go with Bose, but there you go. That is my recomendation.

Similar to my budget.

Amp was £400ish and speakers around the grand.

The install obviously depends on your circumstances, but I was getting prices upwards of £1000, that included wallmounting the TV channel in and hide all the wires, re-locate power, speaker cables and some interconnects.

I think the problem with the amp is that they need to contain 5 seperate amps and those take up space, I'm no expert though and I guess compact is available (for a price)

For discreet 5.1 speakers, check out the Anthony Gallo nucleus range.

I also brought this amp. Well worth the money.

Contact Plotters. He's the man for Gallos. They really are a stunning set of speakers, and he's a top man to deal with.

I bought a set of the Micro Tis from him last year and I was blown away with their size/sound performance.
