I am confused. We have a 32" LG HDTV connected to a high-def Virgin Media box via a HDMI cable.

It seems to be on VM alone, however there is always a dark spot (On the photo below above C). It's generally in the same place, but doesn't appear on other HD inputs such as DVD or Xbox...

Connection problem, or dodgy telly? I have heard of the term "dead pixel" but don't fully understand it!

Its an umlaut wink

Dead pixels are precisely that - the telly picture is composed of lots of little dots that change colour and brightness. Dead ones stay black, regardless of the input, so if you have another source, it will still be black.

If the black dots are ONLy there for the Virgin source, its a problem with that source, not the telly.

Troubleshoot with another HDMI cable before going back to virgin and getting them to swap the box out.
