What's the catch, there must be a reason they are normally so expensive, I think mine was about £30 (other than just because they can).

Time to enter poundland and ask 'how much is this cable...'

Because they can.

I saw it on Gadget Show, £10 wire compared with £100 wire (Can't remember exact numbers).. They had no difference.

Yup. It's a digital signal so the wire won't make any difference to quality. Buy the cheapest smile

I also saw on the Gadget Show how MP3s from an iPod sound better than CDs.

I also saw on Top Gear how a pushbike was faster than a car.

It all depends on the test, what you are testing and why, and what you are trying to prove.

If you can get a £1 HDMI cable and it works fine for your application then that's brilliant. However, if you want that to work with the newer standards which need more bandwidth then you might be disappointed.

Indeed, if you are going to the trouble of putting an HDMI cable into a wall with a load of other cables and a power cable and you want to save a tenner on a 5m cable then you may end up looking a bit foolish.

I remember that one. Just so they couldn't tell one from the other they very carefully put black tape over the brand name. That fooled them as I guess looking at a panel with glass overlay was identical to looking at an LCD panel....Cocks

Gadget show - Top Gear of Electronics and gadgets.

They're releasing a direct competitor magazine to us, that will be interesting no doubt... Full of tosh I assume.

Have a look at the 8 series samsung plasma, its very difficult to tell it from an LCD until you get very close to it wink
