Has anybody got one of these - or indeed any very recent HD box? I'm wondering if the EPG is a bit snappier because ours is slow as hell. Sky have offered us a free new box so I'm considering taking them up on it.

The wife, being an impatient sort, starts whacking the delete button then instead of deleting one item ends up deleting two or three because she can't see anything happening instantly - if a newer box would help here it might be easier than retraining her!

best thing I can suggest is to set everything to 'keep' with the blue button, then it'll ask for confirmation.

I'd also recommend a planner rebuild. Will speed things up and you won't lose anything. press Services, 0, 0-1-select. Scroll along to Rebuild and press select twice.

Not got the terabyte box, but we do have the new design. 250GB for storage + Anytime, lots smaller than the old one (previous HD box is currently sat on top of the new boxes packaging and they are about the same size). Much faster, EPG still not as responsive as you might like, but it now responds similarly to the old blue/yellow design. Scrolling through channels using the now/next display is now much, much faster too. Very pleased with it overall, though SD channels seem much quieter than HD channels for some reason.

Just had installed a small Amstrad HD box. DRX890. £30 Sky online price plus £10 per month HD charge.

Really impressed, EPG very very quick - I'm coming from a SKY+ (about 6 years old box)& decent scart lead - to this new Amstrad and it feels like I've bought a new TV. Watching standard channels through the Amstrad + HDMI lead are a big improvement for me. So far impressed with the kit.

thanks for the replies chaps! A planner rebuild did seem to help but it is still a bit slow. I think I'll get onto Sky about a new box.

A Sky 'Magis Eye' helps a bit. You plug it into the RF2 socket of the Sky Box. We still get some slowness, but it does improve things. The Magic eyes are only a few quid so worth a punt.
