Got some music in FLAC format. Can it be played on a standard cd player if I burn it?

no, convert them to .wav format and then burn those to CD.

Balls! Took long enough enough converting them to mp3!

Which brings me on to my next question. Any recommendations for free FLAC to WAV converters?

I downloaded COOL FLAC to MP3 converter and that was pretty good. Also managed to download something to get media player to play FLAC which is a start. If only mediaplayer would automatically download in WAV. Hold on, doesn't it do this anyway, as it rips in MP3 but burns in WAV?

Foobar is a good shout - does Flac direct to mp3.

Flac frontend can convert flac to wav and vice versa.

Hmmm, I downloaded Foobar but it appears to only have media player functionality at the moment. Do I need to install other components of foobar?

Apologies if these questions are basic and thanks to those who've helped so far.

To convert to WAV just play it in WinAmp but change the outputter to the file writer. It then outputs whatever you play (MP3, FLAC, whatever) to WAV rather than your speakers.

Assuming you installed the convert option when you installed Foobar, I think you just right click any file, or group of files in foobar and from the context menu select convert. The first time it'll ask you to select locations, formats, etc. then away you go smile

I think WAV should be there from the start but other formats/ codecs (e.g. WMA/ WMA Lossless) can be added, there are loads of tutotials and help on the web. If you have problems just google. www.hydrogenaudio.org are pretty useful.

Just put them into a playlist in Winamp, then burn the playlist. Simples.

Older versions require a free plugin... Google should find it for you...
