From what I understand Panasonic bought the technology behind the Pioneer Kuro screens, but I'm not 100% if they plan to release a Panasonic Kuro screen, or something built on the same tech.

The reason I'm asking is that I'm going to be replacing my Panny PV500 soon and would like to pick up a G20 series screen but would like to make sure that there isn't something much better just around the corner.

The closest thing to the Kuro is going to be called, I believe, the V25/VT25, with the T having 3D. The short 'lag' on the Kuro phosphors is what makes the tech well suited to 3d and may well make the 3d set, used out of 3d more, the most Kuro-ish.

The naming may be the American version.

Any idea when the V25 will be released?

Also what does anybody think of the 9000 range from Philips? The 46PFL9704H or similar> What Hi-fi seem big fans, however I'm not sure if it's worth the premium over the Panasonic range.

VT25 is the US model number. In Europe they will be VT20's and probably available only in 50" screen size and above. They are widely rumoured to contain Pioneer tech, but there are no reviews out yet to assess how good these plasmas will be - but they are potentially better than the 9th Gen Pioneers due to improved phosphors (and the new technology).

To be released in May/June and will cost about £2,200 for the 50"

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully I'll be able to have a look at one at NAB this year.

Excuse me for a little bit:
