Denon amp and Samsung TV - known issues?

I've upgraded my AV amp so have a spare Denon 2307 which I was going to put with my Xbox/PS3 and Samsung LCD TV.

I spent a good few hours last night trying to get it working, but what works fine downstairs (panasonic PJ and hitachi plasma) doesnt seem to like the 1080p Samsung - I dont get any picture, not even the onscreen setup. I sometimes get a message saying 'mode not accepted'.

Any idea if there is any known issue with Denon not working with Samsung. I'm at a bit of a loss with it all, and the manual is about as much use as a chocolate teapot!

What model samsung and dennon have you got? mode not supported normally means you are supplying the set with a resolution higher than what the TV can support but this is unlikely with a 1080p set.

Thats what the online help I could find said. The TV is a couple of years old ,but 1080p - the amp (AVR-2307) is older but passes 1080p through and upconverts to 720p via hdmi.
