Morning folks.

I'm after some recommendations if you have a second. I need to replace the bedroom TV - doesn't need to be anything ground breaking as it won't get used that often. Budget is around £200 - £250. Would be handy if it had built in freeview and DVD would be a bonus but I reckon I might be stretching it to achieve that? I'm guessing around 19" or maybe 22" and widescreen?

Any thoughts?

Doug,

Just bought this for our bedroom with the JL 5 year warranty:

http://www.johnlewis.com/230562549/Product.aspx

It does the job, but I never expect too much from small TVs!

Has built in Freeview and the picture is good. The sound is a little tinny but can be adjusted easily to improve it.

Bargain really.

But you can have this instead from Richer Sounds, 22 inch and includes 5 year guarantee for £208.95:

John Lewis are the masters at persuading people they have the lowest prices when very often they are knowingly undersold. 5 year guarantees are available at many other places including Richer Sounds.

I fear Samsung.

I live in fear of Plotters coming round to my house and kicking me in the balls for buying one frown

I've had a 32" Samsung LCD for the last 2 years. It's a superb TV with a fabulous picture. Follow your own judgment by looking at the picture and decide from there.

Yep. The Philips 19PFL3404; really great picture and supprisingly good sound for a small TV. I had been looking for a bedroom TV for a few months, but when that came out, I got one straight away.

I was gonna say it's at the top of your budget, but I see Richer Sounds have knocked off £30 since I bought mine!

It has a great feature that I like, you can get it to switch on the subtitles every time you mute the set. I know, I know, but I think it's a cool feature. biggrin

One small negative though, the power light is a bit too bright for a bedroom, but easily sorted with a bit of tape or something.

I bought a 32" Samsung when I was in Australia for the AUD equivalent of GBP800 (this was four years ago). I use it for Sky SD and xbox360 and with a bit of picture tweaking it is very good. I don't notice any ghosting or blurring on fast moving items and picture is bright and clear. For a budget choice you can't go wrong with Samsung (though when I come to upgrade it will be Panasonic all the way..).

Got this Toshiba 19" from JL for £249, you can get it cheaper elsewhere, but I was given £40 in JL vouchers so this made it pretty good value.

It's got a built in Freeview (so good for digital radio too) and DVD player so it pretty useful unit. The only issue is that the sound is not greatvolume & quality), but that's not really a problem running in the bedroom.

Interesting to note that the TV is guaranteed for 5 years, but the DVD, which is part of twhe whole unit is only for 2 years, which confused me a bit!
