Sony S360 problem - randomly switching TV from hdmi to tv
Discussion
Hi guys
Had an S360 bluray player since January and been working great. But tonight, after about 2hours of a movie it randomly switched from HDMI to TV on my Panasonic Plasma. TV is the TH-42PX70
Thought I'd hit the remote so switched back to TV. Fine again for 10mins then happened again.
Happened about 3 or 4 times more until end of movie.
Tried another disc and the same happened after a couple of minutes.
The player keeps playing the movie, it's as if I had pressed TV on the remote to switch from HDMI to TV.
Any ideas or things I should be trying? I've searched around and not come across any similar problems.
Cheers everyone
To add... checked firmware - 007 which seems to be the latest one.
Currently trying a standard dvd to see if it causes the same problem.
Have checked hdmi cables are in tight.
Have quickly tried the first few minutes of a dvd (no problems) and the same bluray that the problem happened to again, but no problems this time.
Is this a random problem?
Am currently playing the same disc that first caused it all the way through to see if it repeats itself.

Hi Andy
I don't know if this may affect you, but I have a couple of bits of Sony kit, all of which can be controlled to one degree or another from their respective remotes.
If the remotes have been tidied away in a certain way, the buttons can get pushed, leading to all sorts of fun?
Otherwise, no idea. You might want to swap HDMI cables, just to check?

Hey Greg,
I did think Kate had found a way of controlling it and was winding me up! But that's my only Sony toy and I had both remotes on the floor next to my Blackberry. There's no way the BB could mess with the signal is there?
Trying the following today (handily I work from home).
- Replaying whole bluray disc to see if it happens again
- Swap to the other HDMI port on the TV
- Swap cables
These are the most annoying problems as they can be so random. Will probably not happen again until we're watching another movie
Thanks for posting, hope all is well mate

Played first movie fine (the one that messed up yesterday).
Played over an hour of second movie then cut to TV randomly again.
Did notice the TV's remote wasn't responding properly though... so replaced batteries in that and have hid it so it can't control the TV.
Anyone heard of remotes with low batteries sending signals randomly?
Confusing issue this...
Edit - played through two movies now with no problems.
Hope it was as simple as low batteries! Random!

I was going to suggest replacing the batteries as I have known flat batteries to cause random remote issues!Played over an hour of second movie then cut to TV randomly again.

You could try turning off the HDMI CEC setting in the S360 (assuming it's a similar menu to my S350) but you'll have to manually select the HDMI input on your TV when you want to watch a disc. My TV doesn't respond to this signal, so I have to either use a macro on my remote or just select manually, so it doesn't bother me.

That was going to be my next plan, but *fingers crossed* the remote batteries seem to be the cause. Thanks all
