Bought one of these yesterday from richer in black for £320, thought this was a good deal. smile

The price shown on their website says £399 for black or £349 for silver so just giving people a heads up.

What speakers are you pairing it with?

I'm tempted by some Mordaunt Short speakers, but I was told that they don't match up too well to an Onkyo amp. But a Denon amp would match them well.

Onkyo amp with: Q Acoustics, Acoustic energy, KEF, tannoy Mercury F series speakers.

Richers are doing a package with the 607 and the alumni's together and I have read a few reviews/forums which say they are a good system together but have no personal experience of them together hence why i still haven't got any speakers yet, it's only taken me 6 months to decide on the onkyo so maybe I'll have some new speakers for the summer biggrin

I know what you mean, I haven't brought any of my kit yet after numerous thread on a few websites.

I bought an Onkyo Tx-SR607 in December for 349gbp and during my extensive searching found that there are many places selling grade B for about 20 to 30 quid cheaper, they say theyre either factory refurbs or have damaged boxes. Hope you got a new grade A....

yes it's grade A, richer's advertise if it's a refub or graded product.
Just noticed they have updated their website which is showing both the black and silver at £319.99 now.

Bump!

Can anyone confirm whether Mordaunt Short Alumni speakers would match with a SR607 or not? I'm in the same position as the OP, chosen the amp but not yet sure about the speakers...

What's the best £500 to £700 set that will pair well?

As I said above I was thinking of getting the Alumni but have found the Kef KHT3005SE for £770, this seems to be a very very good price but I am not sure if it will be worth the extra over the mordaunt's.
Ideally would like to hear the kefs and 607 together.

I ended up buying some Mordaunt Short speakers and a Denon 1910 amp.

The Kefs work a treat with the 607 and that is a great price you have. Is it the SE verison with the HTB2 subwoofer or the K2 version you have seen?

Absolutely, I have this setup at home, never get tired of listening to it and even the wife who insisted it wasn't worth it now agrees that it's a great setup.

Yes it is the SE version with the HTB2 sub, have ordered them today so should have everything up and running for the weekend.
Can anyone recommend the best way to "run" them in.
Thanks
