Hi,

I had my HD box replaced with a new one a few weeks ago, My new box has been connected to the tv using the scart not the HDMI lead. When I put the tv to HDMI setting as I always used to all I get is a blank screen. I wondered if there was some kind of output setting on the box that needs to be turned on?

Thanks,

Ed.

With my limited knowledge, probably something on the TV to tell it that a scart is connected and not the HDMI cable.

Is this thread real? Why can't you plug an HDMI cable in and remove the Scart. You'll have no HD till you do.

If it's connected to the television using the SCART output, you will have to set the television to the input that the SCART is connected into which is usually AV1.

Currently you're selecting the HDMI input and there is nothing plugged into it, hence the lack of image.

Sorry, I could have worded my original post better. When sky installed it both the HDMI and the scart leads were in, I can't get a feed from the HDMI even with the tv on the HDMI setting. At the moment I am just watching with the scart as there seems to be no output from the HDMI.

You need to plug the HDMI cable back into the sky box then select the correct HDMI input on the TV. As previously mentioned whilst watching via SCART you will not be getting a HD picture, you will ge the HD channels displayed onscreen but the pic wont be HD.

Then you need to get sky to come back. You are paying for HD and they are not giving it to you.
There is no way on earth they should have left you set up on a SCART lead although i come across it 2-3 time per week.

There is no option in the SKY HD box to turn off the HDMI so if it isnt working then its either

no output from the sky HDMI connector (Faulty SKY box)
Faulty HDMI lead
Faulty HDMI input on the TV
You have selected the wrong HDMI input on the TV (plugged into HMDI1 but you selected HDMI2)

I get the feeling that with them leaving it the way they did then they couldnt get it to work.

What TV have you got? Off hand i can only think of Poineers that can be setup wrong that would cause something like this.

It's a samsung, I will try running the box with another lead and tv tomorrow to make sure it is the box at fault.

Cheers,

Ed
