"Surround Sound" Headphones... how do they work?

Per title. I've just bought some wireless headphone which claim to be "7.1 Surround". How does that work?

Listen, chaps, as interesting as you may find kitched appliances IMO they are as dull as dishwater (see what I did there?!?) so can someone tell me how 7.1 headphones work?
