Blurry Blacks on Panasonic Plasma

I have a 42" Panasonic plasma. I notice when watchin blu/ray or even TV if there is a dark scene the blacks start to blur. Its sometimes as a result forms a blanket in the background of the shot.

Been watching Dark Knight on Bluray and noticed it a lot.

Its a panasonic TH42 px60 set. Bought in Aug 2006.


Does any have ideas on whats wrong?

You havent got the brightness turned up too high have you? or even worse set to Dynamic.
You brightness control believe it or not dosent adjust the brightness, it actually sets the black level, if its too high then blacks will become slightly grey then you start seeing things in the black that should really be clipped.
