So, pleased as I am with my new Samsung, the sound really is dire.

I don't have the space for loads of speakers, so I'm thinking a soundbar plus subwoofer ought to do the job.

BUT... are they actually any good? It's a small room, and the sofa is about 7' from the TV.

Budget is £3.12 plus a bag of Worthers Originals...over to you chaps.

Samsung do a 2.1 system that is ok, if you do stay with a Samsung system then they interect with each other making them easier to work, for example the Volume control on the TV R/C actually changes volume on the AMP, not a big thing but makes it alot easier to operate.

I've got a Denon soundbar with subwoofer.

The sound quality is impressive compared to my previous Sony surround sound system, although I don't get much of a 'surround' effect with it.

Yamaha all the way. Look at the Yas-71/ Yas-81 around £350-£400.

I am saving up to get one :-)

The Samsung ones have very bad reviews; and do not offer any extra sound quality. Look nice though.
