Hi, couldn't get the search function to work, so apologies if this is an old question!

I'm offshore just now, and there is an LCD in one of the recreation rooms, which has been on 24 hours a day for at least the last 4 years. Don't get me wrong, it's been off here and there due to power cuts, but not for more than an hour at a time. I reckon at least 35,000 hours of useage have been clocked up, and it still works fine. It's not a very good make, Relisys? (Spelling??) but seems to soldier on!!

Newer models should last in the region of 100k hours. In the main determined by CCFL backlight usage. Doing well to get that length of service from Relisys!

I thought it was doing well for a cheap television!! I never thought they were meant to last as much as 100k!!! That's quite a bit of normal household useage!!!

It's probably not as bright as it once was though. One of my monitors got noticeably dimmer after 6 years.

Could be your electricity supplier, switching to French power. French isn't as good as British...

Good man...

French/German is not so much muck as the loss of quality when they unload it from the tankers and convert from kilometres to miles for the final delivery to your home.

About 10 years before any degradation.
