After many hours of learning, evaluation, consideration and reflection I finally placed an order this morning! The final spec;

Mythos One Floorstanders
Mythos Nine Centre
Mythos.GemXL.Surround
Pioneer SC-LX82
Pioneer BDP-LX51 Blu Ray Player
Sim2 HT380 T2 Lens Projector
Beamax 10608 M-Tensioned electric projection screen (size: 244 x 142cm)
Sunfire HRS12 Subwoofer
Chord Odyssey 2 Speaker Cable
Qed Performance Subwoofer Cable
Vogels (Wall mounted) projector bracket
Chord Active Silver Plus HDMI Cable
Beamax 10539 Trigger

So much for the original budget but how often is that the case! Cant wait to get it up and running. Thanks to all of you who provided input and feedback, much appreciated. Hope it meets expectations!

Congratulations. bounce Glad to see you got sorted in the end, even if the budget did get blown somewhat. smile I'm really pleased with my Beamax screen, so a good choice there: Mine's been up a year now and not a trace of curls or ripples, it's a 112" wide 2.35:1 tab tensioned one.

Was that from the place in Cheltenham or somewhere else?

Cheltenham came up with a stonking deal although another company actually slightly improved on it. From an install/service/support perspective I decided i would rather have a local installation. Cheers for your input. I went for a 16:9 screen in the end. Decided to upgrade the amp to the Lx82 as i want output all inputs to 2 sources (have a pioneer tv in the room also) so hopefully i can sell my LX71 2nd hand. It was only used about 3 times.

Cant wait to hear the Def Techs up and running.

How does the BDP-LX51 compare to the Oppo BDP-83? I'm lusting after some high end bluray/DVD action to make the best of our now somewhat (500+) large DVD and bluray collection.

I hadn't heard (or heard of) those speakers, so I looked them up online...very nice looking. I think you've managed to sort a pretty high end set up there to start with, so hopefully you won't fall into the constant upgrade trap I did. smile I've just got an external CMS box so my porjector can be calibrated exactly to the various standards for accuracy. Along with the fairly recent Isco lens that's my video side sorted for a while (long while I hope), but I'm still looking at changing my receiver possibly for the Arcam AVR600 or separates. At least you're well sorted on that score.

Might be worth placing an ad on AVForums classifieds to sell your '71 on or run the gauntlet of ebay.

I fully understand getting a local dealer as back up should be better and more convienient too.

Mackie - no idea on which player performs best as I have no knowledge of the latter. All i can say is the pioneer has been great linked upto my existing pioneer plasma. The 51 has recently been replaced by the LX52 which is even better...

OldSkool - should keep be going for a while hence stretching the budget a little. Will let you know how it performs!
