Pioneer PDP 435 - TV Does Not Support HDCP - Help Please
Discussion
Chaps
Come home from work tonight, switch on sky and get a message that my display does not support HDCP! I have tried turning off both the SKY and the TV, waiting and then powering up again but still I get the message. DVD's will not play either.
Both Sky and DVD are input via an HDMI switch to the TV.
Bypassing the HDMI switch and going straight to TV does not solve
When I remove the HDMI and input to the TV via component from SKY or DVD all is well, so I'm thinking it's a TV HDMI issue.
Does anyone know of a reset or procedure I can run to solve this is please?
thanks all
Barry

Didnt see it was an issue on the DVD as well sorry.
There was an issue with the HDCP implementation on SkyHD boxes killing the HDMI/HDCP chipset on Pioneer screens.
I can't say for sure that this is what has happened in your case but it looks like your HDMI chipset has become knackered and wont handshake with the sources any more.

I've just found this on the Pioneer website:
This issue can, in a very small number of cases, cause the HDMI input to completely fail on the plasma system or to prevent the correct handling of the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) signals between these 2 items.
This would present either a black screen from anything connected to the plasma system via any of the HDMI inputs or it would present an HDCP warning message on screen when you try to use the SkyHD box with the plasma system via HDMI.
If you believe that you are affected by this please contact Pioneer on 0870 600 1539, please ensure that you have the serial number of the Media Receiver box or plasma panel in the case of the PDP-436SXE and RXE models and also your SkyHD account number to hand when calling.

UPDATE
Having called Pioneer, a very helpful chap has arranged for a new HDMI circuit board to be sent to a local engineer who will come and install it for me in the media box gratis.
It takes about 20 mins apparantly, but due to the weather it will be around 5 -6 weeks. Still, good service from Pioneer, especially when you consider my TV is 5 years old.

I've had this same upgrade performed on my old Pioneer PDP-435 FDE. It took a lot of chasing up to finally get them to come out and do the fix, since there was a shortage of replacement boards. The HDMI worked fine aftewards with sky and Xbox 360 but still didn't like my blu-ray player.
