Which is a good Blue Ray dvd Player to buy and I presume that they will play all DVD's, and not just Blue Ray discs

Blu Ray and yes it will play DVDs.

There are some region-free (switch regions with a remote) out there now if you want to source BDs from the US.

I am sure someone else will be along shortly with specific models.

I've just bought one of these http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.c...

which gets good reviews and for the price you can't go wrong. I fancied a PS3 but realistically knew I would never get the time

I have that players big brother, the 560, brand new never opened with warranty etc that I haven't got round to selling yet.

I got it free with an LCD Bravia, but I use a HTPC so its not needed. Seems to be going for around the £160 mark on the bay.

Yes, nice things those PS3's. You should try a bit of gaming too.

Sounds more interesting with all the extra things you can do with it. Cheers

Yup, its pretty cool with all the extras.

Either copy a movie over on a memory stick (variety of formats, Divx, MP4, m2ts), or have it stream them from the laptop in the corner of the room ....

Good for music playback, and I've used it semi regular as a picture viewer. Images look so much nicer on our 42" LCD than they do on the laptops 15" screens.

Browser is good for the occasional bit of work, especially if you get the keyboard bit to stick on top of the remote.

So would be a good match to go with my Pioneer 50" and I presume when you say extras they have a standard set of add ons ?
