Hi - I am hoping you can recommend an AV amp which can cope well with low impedances / reactive loads. A basic 5.1 with beefy power supply would be much better, for my application, than a newer 7.1 with its budget spent on extra channels / advanced processing / switching etc.

Speakers I'm using are not AV amp friendly ~ they are Celelstion C2 front ( 4 ohm nom ) + B&W LM1 at the back ( 8 ohm nom 4.8 ohm min ) + 5 ohm nom center channel but I'd rather change the amp than the speakers.

Budget is £450~500 new ~ S/H OK too. Any ideas ?

TIA

New amps stable at 4 ohms you're looking at spending double your budget, roughly.

Might be worth looking for an Arcam AVR350 secondhand, if you can find one, as they are quite a musical amp and quite powerful (despite specs that might appear lower than some other more popular makes). I've seen them sell for around your budget though they don't come up very often and they are a 'no frills' type amplifier so don't expect Audyssey EQ and mulitple HDMI sockets or HD decoding.

Thanks for the replies ~ I'm having second thoughts about replacing the amp now; new fronts instead look like a better option.
