I'm looking for a bit of advice for a friend that wants to upgrade his TV, but HD and gaming are not his bag.

I'm used to advising the family on HD TV's and home cinema when you're trying to get the best quality for your price however i'm stumped with his requirements;

1 - Would prefer 37 Inch screen, may go to 40 but definitely not 42

2 - Will mainly be used for sport viewing only so I guess 100hz is a must here, no movies or games are even in his flat and he has no interest in either.

3 - Will only ever have the terrestrial cable coming into it and will need inbuilt freeview

4 - Budget is £500-600 but would prefer to keep it around £550 and if a stand is included then all the better.

I'm uncomfortable advising a TV at this size as 37 Inch seems to fall inbetween no mans land for getting too big to be LCD and too small to be plasma? All Panasonics that we've had have been excellent so I was looking at the Panasonic Viera P37X10B (does B just mean Britain?!) however I'm just clutching at straws here.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, also if any of the guys with stores on here can recommend any of their products that would be great - we've had great dealings with Digitaldirect with other family members down south, would they deliver up to Glasgow within their prices as they are very competitive?

Cheers for reading and any comments.

37X10 is a good TV, but if you can think of a 40" LCD, then the 42X10 is also doable given the very small difference to the overall width and height an extra 2" on the diagonal brings.
It'll definitely be better with sport on SD, but be aware that the low bitrates often used to broadcast football back from the Continent, will not look as good as it used to on a CRT, which with its lower resolution, masked a fair bit of it.
It won't be terrible - it may be noticeably different - but you'll get used to it, and it will be better than similarly priced LCD's can display.
