After a bit of browsing I've decided I need a Home Cinema system...
After quite a bit of research earlier I found the Panasonic SC PT-470, that looked good, but the lack of DTS over the optical in was a bit of a worry... I'll want to run a Wii, 360 and at some point a BR player and/or PS3 through it.

That led me to this, now I'm pretty sure this will do DTS over optical in and having BR built-in is a benefit! That iPod dock is a very nice idea as well and will save me from buying something for my iPhone! wink
Is there anything else that would be worth looking at...?
I'd planned to spend £200-300 but would be happy to extend to the Panny system. Reviews say it has very good picture and sound quality!
Over to you guys! thumbup

The LG HT904TA seems to get decent reviews (well, it's predecessors do). I'm not fussed about the lack of Blue Ray as I have a PS3.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've just bought a Panny Plasma, so being able to use just one control would be good, but I'm after something with floor standing speakers.

A entry level Logitech Harmony is only £50 so getting hung up on the remote sharing seems a bit of a false economy.

Don't discount the Yamaha soundbars.

You can get that model with floor-standing speakers (and in the non-Blu Ray version as well).
For that model, just substitute a '5' at the end of the model number. smile

Not too bothered about the remote thing, although it'd be nice to have one!

I've just got the 470 and it seems fine to me, great with the link as I've got a Viera Panasonic plasma

Got an optical running from the TV so anything that plays on TV is automatically run through the system in either standard, manual or multi-speaker.

I have also just bought some speaker stands from fleabay to get them off the ground and all in all I'm OK with it all. Must be noted I know f-all about these systems so I may mislead wink

No worries.

Here is the Blu-ray one and the 'regular' DVD one.

Out of interest, what is the sound quality like?

Oh and in addition to my original question, I've just realised my TV doesn't have Optical out... I guess unless I did a big work around I would end up using the TV Speakers for terrestrial and the Cinema speakers for DVDs... PITA!!
Oh and any thoughts?!

Luke, you can use SCART to take audio to the HT kit.

From someone who knows nothing it seems really good.

Crank it up with any source and it is crystal clear with loads of base and punch. My youngest was watching a Blu Ray earlier today and the sound track had some gun shot type sounds in it. We currently have decorators in and one happened to be walking past the living room when said bang happened...... He nearly shat himself!

I know you can spend a fortune on this type of kit but I doubt there's much better about in the price range.

My Boss has just brought this one (I think).

He was saying he was able to play movies/videos stored on his iPhone on his TV via the Digital Media Port...

Luke, why not drop Derestrictor a mail via his profile and ask him?
