100% none of the 50" stuff (at this price point;) the problem is, everything has become so damn cheap that people genuinely believe you can get decent/high quality kit for some beans. Well, you can't.
Whilst in isolation these (generally Korean) offerings are ok they are so inferior to most of the medium-upper Japenese offerings it's a no brainer when you see both, optimised (which you rarely will, in a 'shed.')
The good news, is that the decent stuff is nevertheless bargain basement compared to anything just 18 months ago so if you're after value - rather than cheapness per se - you can't lose.
My advice would be spend another £100-200 and look at several alternatives which are vastly superior.
You will still be spending a fraction of what you'd have spent historically but will have avoided a false economy and bagged something where the quality will be long remembered after the small premium is forgot.

Good advice - can you suggest any examples please?Whilst in isolation these (generally Korean) offerings are ok they are so inferior to most of the medium-upper Japenese offerings it's a no brainer when you see both, optimised (which you rarely will, in a 'shed.')

46G15.
I'm thinking of upgrading shortly and have the above and the 42V10 as the two I would spend my money on. Only issue I have is what benefit one has over the other apart from an extra 4" in size ?I will be sitting 14 feet away and intend to connect a top notch Panny Blu Ray, SKY in SD form and eventually a receiver from Yamaha or Onkyo with a nice set of 5.1 speakers.
So, big question is will the 46" be a better option given that price is not an issue ?
Oh yeah, what is this "optimisation" tuning I keep seeing crop up on threads like this, who does it, and how much does it cost ?

John Lewis are punting out the Panny 42G10 for £679 at the moment. I know where my money would be going and it wouldn't be on anything from Korea.
M and S is about £20 cheaper. Grey Ghost said:

At 14' you're not going to benefit from 1080p material on B-R, so a 50G10 would be a better option.
As for the 15's inclusion of an ethernet port for DLNA access, I doubt it's something you'd miss on the 10's
Optimisation by an accredited ISF Pro would be rewarding if you watch a LOT of movies, but if not, then the THX mode of the V10 would put you very close to it, without actually having it done.
Price is generally about £300 for 2 inputs set for a 'daytime' and 'evening' setting.

V10s are academic at the mo because UK sourced models are simply n/a.
99.999% of users will find little-no subjective benefit and in the context of the market proper the whole THX exercise is little more than badge engineering/product differentiation.
Re daft prices, we do great deals on factory fresh Lambos, like £20k for Balbaoni certified Murky SV670s. Of course, we haven't got any in stock but hey, it seems like a great offer.
For every one 'scoop' purchase (great publicity) there are many more disappointed bargain hunters. I must have spoken to about six dozen yesterday.
