Its been a while since ive brought any new hifi equipment about 10 years i think. Sold all my old stuff off because mrs said we don't have room for it. Used to have seperate stereo with floorstanders in the kitchen and 5.1 all different types of seperates in the living room.
However i have been brought and lg bd370 blue ray from her mum for xmas and i can't use it with the cheap all in one we've got so have been given permission and a budget to sort some new tasteful gear out. Only catch is it has to go in our furniture which means the amp has to be very slimline, max 110 cm tall. All speakers must be in black or very dark wood.
Was thinking of a marantz nr1501 after talking to richer sounds but was wondering if anyone has any views or expereince with it? Also i understand 5.1 but how does 6.1 and 7.1 work and is it worth it? Aything else i should know?
Need obviously speakers and a sub to go with bearing in mind that this is the only stereo in the house now so would be used for music aswell.
