Every now and again, but getting more regular the TV picture goes very yellow. Switching it off and on again usually gets the picture back to normal.

Is it the early signs of the TV being on its way out?

TIA

What TV is it? Does it do it on just the AV inputs or on its own built in tuner?

It's a phillips normal tube type TV (about 10 years old)

We only have only ever seen it happen when it is used on the Virgin box (it doesn't have a normal arial plugged in)

It could well be a poorly seated scart lead, they use an RGB signal so if one of the connectors in the scart isnt connecting properly you can get an intermittantly coloured screen, Try pulling it out at both ends, check that non of the pins are pushed in then plug both ends back in making sure it goes in properly.
Another things it can be with the older fishlips TV's is that the tube could be on the way out, is it just a yellow haze or does it have diagonal stripey lines in the yellow haze? If you have got the stripey lines then it is the tube, if not its most likely the scart connection.
