Hi

Where my parents live they rely on a Freesat HD box for their main TV feed (linked to the old sky dish). They also have an old sky digital box running from the satellite dish.

Is there an elegant solution to being able to record one feed whilst watching the other? There must be something better than a VCR which is what they are currently using.

I see Humax do freeview recorders but would this have the connectivity to record from the sky box?

You can get Freesat PVRs that basically act like a Sky+ box, but they'll need two feeds from the sat dish to make use of the record a channel whilst watching another functionality.

Gandalf (One of Der's colleagues) recommended this

http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/Products/Blu...

It arrives tomorrow (fingers crossed - stop bloody snowing!!!) so I will post up what I think of it in a few days. The internet seems to like it as a one box solution though.

Two choices the Pana DMR-BS750/850 which is twin tuner Freesat with recording to HDD and Blu-ray; the 850 has more HDD space.

The cheaper option is the Humax Foxsat HDR which does without the BR element.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Hopefully the price of the Freesat HD recorder will come down at some point.

I better think of something else to get them for xmas now

If you're basing that statement on the Panasonic one mentioned above, thats a lot more expensive because of the Bluray recorder built in. The regular Freesat recorders can be had from about £200, not much more than a regular Freeview recorder.

No idea what its like of if its the cheapest place to source, but Argos have a Sagem one for £200, or the Humax for £250
