I'm looking for a DAB clock radio for father.

It has to have a coax aerial socket in the back. The house in a bit of a blackspot, so facility to extend the aerial is essential.

It has to have an alarm, snooze and sleep function.

It would be nice to have an iPod dock. Failing this, a USB input. Failing this a 3.5mm jack input.

I have found this which has everything except the iPod/USB.

I have found this which has everything except the aerial.

I have also found this which has everything except the aerial.

None of the radios I have found has all of the features I want. The first Roberts is winning at the mo, but I would really like to be able to plug an iPod in. Granted I could get a powered iPod dock, but I'd like something a little tidier than that.

Any ideas? (including how to modify a radio to include a shielded aerial socket in the back!!!)

TIA

I'm in a bit of a black spot too, most FM radios I've had have been awful but my Pure Chronos is very good for DAB reception - might be worth trying to borrow one from somewhere as you're really limiting yourself with the aerial I think.

I'd go for that or the "Boom".

Internet radio - most stations available.

Yeh, the aerial is definitely the sticking point. But it is essential. I've got a Pure Evoke which works fine on top of the fridge, and hanging up in the workshop off the special radio string, and works fine if you use a coax lead to relocate the aerial to the curtain-rail.

All of this breaks down when the pig food mixing pumps start up on the other side of the yard.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Vita audio looks nice. Will see if I can check one out on the weekend.

Have you tried bodging the standard aerial on your Pure into a standard coax plug, far from ideal, but if it works....

Given that Ruark Design them and the R2i and R4 are DAB+ compatible I'd say the Vita Audio units look good!!

Ive got one of these. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001EN5EM... .

Not cheap but does do all you want and having just looked at mine it seems you can undo the aerial and replace it with coaxial one.

Sounds rather good too considering its size.
