Hi, a quick question about upscaling DVD players - are they worth it over standard ones?
Deciding between either a Toshiba upscaling one:

Or a Panasonic 'standard' one, picking panasonic as it's one of their plasmas it will be going through:

Thanks for any help.

There isnt much in it tbh, if the DVD dosent upscale the image then the dispay has to in order for it to fill the screen. The only time that upscaling DVD players give you a better pic is when the upscaler in the DVD is better than the upscaler in the TV. Like everyone lese said, get a BluRay even if you dont have any discs as they still play DVD's.
I agree with all Headcase says, but just to add that I've compared my Sony BDP-S350 upscaling DVDs to 1080p and a very expensive (but much cheaper secondhand BTW) separate video processor on my 128" projector screen. The VP did do a better job, but considering the cost difference the BluRay player did a pretty good job. On a smaller screen like 42" it really looks pretty much the same once you get a few feet back from the TV.
