My Arcam Alpha 9 is a cracking amp but the source select is knackered and I can't listen to anything properly. Arcan want £150 to take the lid off so I'm looking to buy something newer. My brother had an AVR100 years ago that was great for surround as well, so I thought about picking up a cheap old AVR100.

I'm shocked to see the price of them on ebay though - over £200 quid when the tech is really old and they are about 5 generations out of date!

Anywhere else I should look for them, or anything else I should look at? AVR100 worth a look?

A friendly local TV type repair shop should be able to sort out your faulty one for you for alot less than that.

I'm sure, I'll probably get it fixed and give it to my dad or something - but it gave me an excuse to get something new(ish) and shiny! wink

I live about 25 miles from Waterbeach and have visited ARCAM a few times over the years. Their fantastic support has ensured my brand loyalty since 1985, when I bought my first piece of A&R Cambridge kit, a venerable A60 amplifier, still perfectly working today! ARCAM engineers helped resolved an earth loop aerial issue with my tuner (for free) and a number of other technical service issues, never charging more than £40.00. I love the ARCAM sound. The high end ARCAM kit I have now allows me to enjoy my music fully...
