BOSE stands for Buy Other Sound Equipment!!!
Buy a set of KEF KHT1005s instead or find a little bit more and buy the KHT2005s
awful things the AM6s have 2 bob speakers inside.

So when people post a question like "What is the best trim level for the Mk1 Corsa, as I really like them and want a 'nice' one" in General Gassing, we're supposed to tell them to be happy with said Corsa and not even consider anything else or enquire as to why the desire it?
BOSE Acoustimass, don't sound good but as long as the OP is aware of that and is happy with the compromise for the tiny satellite speakers, that's fine. I see no problem with making sure the OP has his eyes open to (all be it larger) alteratives.

Gentlemen, if I opt for the KEF, would I have to go to the extra expense of a seperate amp? I'm led to believe the sub on the Bose Accoutimass incorporates the amplification.
The acoustimass speaker system is just that a speaker system, it requires anamplifier to make it work, the amplifier in is for the active sub

His question was: 'where can I buy Bose?'. It wasn't: 'I'm thinking of Bose, what's it like and is there better?'.BOSE Acoustimass, don't sound good but as long as the OP is aware of that and is happy with the compromise for the tiny satellite speakers, that's fine. The hotel I'm staying at has a Bose home system in the bar and quite frankly it sounds good and has tiny, tiny little unobtrusive speakers. The V-30 (?) package is marketed as a 'Lifestyle' system which perhaps isn't the best sounding, but it's a very slimline has very small speakers, sounds Ok and is RF controlled so it can be hidden in a cupboard. It also has IR outputs that mean you can hide all of your vid/aud gear in a cupboard but still control them from one remote! That's what some of us want...
To the OP.
I have the Acoustimass 10 series Subwoofer and Speakers - it's the nuts
Check ebay , loot magazine if in London area (i think that's the one), or http://www.preloved.co.uk

The acoustimass certainly isn't a sub, it's more of a low range speaker. Don't expent any real thump or LFE.
Bose kit isn't terrible, it is just extremely overpriced for you get and they make out it is some room filling 10kw system. Good luck trying to find any spec on their systmes, BOSE really don't want to see what frequencies they can handle, especially that little acoustimass bass box.
The Kefs are easily superior, go and have a demo of some with a cheap av-amp and listen for youself!
Have a nice read on some of the sciene, which is mostly pretty simple audio stuff with some logic:
