Hi, I’ve been looking at a Toshiba from Amazon.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001TUYQ4...

Amazon is the cheapest retailer but doesn’t offer any extended warranty.

There are other retailers who sell the same model but are a bit more expansive, though they offer 3/5 yr warranty for extra £110 - £150.

Is the extended warranty worth it?

Thanks!

PS – I’ll mainly be using the TV for Xbox 360 plus a bit of Sky+

Thanks.

Don't have John Lewis in Brighton.

I can't find any info about 'price match' on their website.

John Lewis doesn't have the same model. They have Phillips for £430 with 5-yr warranty, up to £600+ for a Sony.

I was only just going to get a HD monitor for my new Xbox 360, but the monitor that I want (Samsung XL2370) is out of stock.

Since I have recently had Sky installed, I was thinking I might as well go the whole nine-yard and replace my old Daewoo 20-inch CRT TV with a HD TV and forget about the HD monitor.

I don’t really want to pay any more than £400..... and then I started reading about warranty and this and that and got confused.

Have you tried RicherSounds?

Costco are brilliant for returns, and everything comes with a 5yr warranty included in their (albeit slightly inflated) prices... may work out roughly the same as buying the tv cheaper + warranty.....

Thanks for the replies.

RicherSounds don’t have the same model, nor John Lewis. Also RicherSounds charges £50 for the extended warranty.

Been to a number of price comparison websites and Amazon is by far the cheapest.

I think if I was to get the new tele, I may just take a gamble and make do with the 12-month manufacture warranty. What’s the worst gonna happen eh? (Famous last word!) My Daewoo CRT is 10 yr old and still going strong, just that it’s silly watching sky and playing Xbox through this old-fashion box.

LCD TVs can’t be that fragile, can they???
