we need to acquire a 37" tv. I would have searched but, that aint working again so ...

wandered into Currys in Croydon today, and whilst I wouldn't normally buy from there, the new store looks quite attractive.

They recommended a LG 32 and 37" LCD's but I was wondering what the general perception was?

I was looking at the 37LH3000 which only has good reviews. It is about £480, so any others good in that sort of price range?

I don't have a HD feed, so "normal sky / virgin" needs to look good as tv is the most usage.

I forgot to add:

Our current viewing distance will only be 8'. Will the quality on the bigger screen be great from such a sort distance?

We are thinking about moving in the time that we will have the TV so will have a greater viewing distance so thinking about buying for now and the future.

If tv watching is what your buying it for go plasma still. LCD has improved greatly but plasma still better for tv watching. Panasonic i think are the last 37" plasma screen maker. LG, Samsung u buy on looks and value for money. They don't have the best sound or picture.
Before people say you get a better resolution on lcd that is true But as i keep saying for tv plasma better,
I use to have a tv shop in the whigift centre. all i sold was hi-fi, plasma and lcd tvs.

8' works for both 37" and 42" on SD material.
As boss1 says, have a gander at the current HD Ready Panny Plasmas - 37 and 42X10, and see what you think, compared to the LCD's in the same price bracket.
Ask for the remotes, and turn off all the gubbins on the TV's, then you'll see which looks best on Normal setting - switch out of Dynamic/Vivid mode, any that are in it.
