I'm considering the Aussiemorph Mk3 Anamorphic lens to use with my JVC HD350 projector. As it's a pretty niche product I've posted on varions forums to ask if there are any owners of this lens and what their thoughts are about it. I have the chance of a deal this week before a 1 Nov price increase, so it's pushing me into a decision. I currently 'zoom' and use my Lumagen HDQ to 'shrink' 16:9 to fit (at least for non critical 16:9 content like trailers and disc menus). The HDQ will naturally be used for the vertical stretch needed to use with this Horizontal expansion lens.

I'm projecting onto a 112" wide 2.35:1 Beamax tab tensioned screen from a throw distance of about 19'. This gives me an 84" wide 16:9 image without the lens (contant height on my screen) so this is a throw of approx 2.7 (nicely above the minimum recommended of 2.1).

I can get it for just under £1,300 inc delivery, so unless anyone knows of an ISCO lens going this cheap, there is little else to consider.

No chance matey. tongue out But think of it like chipping an already good car...like maybe a VX220 for example. wink

Gone off the idea now anyway, no one could give me a definate yes or no to it, so the money's probably going elsewhere on changing my front speakers and/or a new plasma TV for day to day use.

Just incase anyone else stumbles across this thread, I didn't take the risk of the Mk3 lens for the pre price increase deal. Instead I just happened on a for sale thread on AVForums for an ISCO II lens for £800 which seems pretty well sought after and I'd be able to sell on without losing anything (they are £2,500 new from a quick google) if I don't think it improves anything beyond simple zooming. First impressions are good, though it may take some further adjustments (there are six eek) to get it spot on. However even with the lens in place, my PJ's menu looks sharper than my old AE3000's menu looked without a lens and just zoomed (bad PJ or good lens, but I'm happy). I can now change from 16:9 (1.78:1) to 2.35:1 in the blink of an eye with a single button press, just like the real cinemas. cool

I also picked up an Arcam P1000 7 channel power amp for £450 which was a £1,500+ amp when new. cool looks like a good weekend for watching some films.
