I've square eyes and a sore head going over this,so would love some opinions please. Kuro 60 has been suitably purchased, and as I'd like to get things moving quickly as it's holding up the rest of the house,
I have (still perfect),a M+K sub,a pair of Kef Cresta 3's and a pair of Mission 751's with stands. Now if I keep this set up,I'd maybe tie it with a Pioneer 919SVX which would partner the Kuro nicely, and maybe a B+W FPM5 as a centre speaker. The downsides? I assume the 751's aren't ideal as rears as they are very directional(and will be right behind us due to the room size),and the Cresta's may look a bit bulky either side of the Kuro. However of course, it is the cheapest way for me to go.
The other options are ( and thanks for DER for some pointers)
1:Junk/sell/use elsewhere my existing speakers and go for the KEF3005se's which are bargainous at the mo, but look just plain ugly to me in relation to the telly.Probably for that reason a no-no.
2: Blow what's left of the ever diminishing budget ( was there ever one ?!) and go for 3 FPM5's wallmounted as front left/right/centre speakers and either 2 wall mounted fpm2's for the rear or 2 ceiling mount Sonance RS1's. Downside here is wall mounted rears won't be much if any further away tha where the 751's would be. Fitting the RS1's in the ceiling would mean much better spread but a constant worry of waking my daughter above, in which case we'd be turning them off which defeats the object of course.Aesthetically either option in (2) would look fantastic and give it the wow factor, but we're looking at prob another £1400 for this over keeping my original kit, and we're not so "into it"as we might be to justify it really although we could be pursuaded!
As an aside, is there any value secondhand on the Cresta and 751's?
Sorry for such a long winded post and I realise it's all subjective , but any thoughts?

I guess you already went to bed now. biggrin I wouldn't recommend buying a new centre that doesn't match your existing front left and right speakers, unless you intend to buy the matching left and rights in the near future (before they change the design). The biggest improvement I made with my setup was when I started using matching front three speakers; the addition of matching surrounds seems less critical (exept perhaps for 5.1 music) though it's nice to have once you've the spare cash to do it.

PS. Have you heard the B&W speakers and the KEFs? Speakers are very subjective and personal, one man's meat and all that...Derestrictor speaks very highly of the KEF3005 speakers, but if you don't like the sound or can't live with the appearance, you need to make sure you can live with the sound of the B&Ws.

Der has been very helpful and certainly speaks highly of the Kefs, especially at the prices they're now at, but I simply can't see it working aesthetically with the Kuro, and having shown the wife, she agrees.
Frankly it's doing my head in as also involved is moving various teles to different rooms and it's all being held up by my reluctance to blow the budget on £1800 of speakers(i.e. 3 fpm 5's and 2 fpm2 /rs1's)that will look great, sound great but make me wince at paying it after the cost of the tele! As for living with the sound of differeing set-ups my ears probably aren't trained enough to hear subtle differences once you're at a certain quality level. Purely in vanity I'd like a WOW factor in appearance and sound, after that point I'm a simple bloke!
What's the value of the Cresta and 751's if any?If I sold them it might make thigs easier to swallow.
Thanks for your input so far.

751's are my favourite speakers of the many I have owned. They just did everything right to my ears. I reckon they would get snapped up. Out of interest what finish are they SJC? If I have the funds I might be interested in them?

Cabinet part is light teak/maple colour with black grills, and the stands are black. By memory they are unmarked and barely run in.

I saw this advert, don't know how it compares to what you'll pay for new ones or even if you wanted this colour. No connection to the seller, so buyer beware as always in secondhand deals.

Three B&W FPM5 speakers in black, £250 each (asking price, usual practice to make offers):

Yes thanks....I bumped it for a few months, then archived it as I wanted to place a for sale add in the same section (and didn't get round to it either whistle). I just look on there most days hoping to catch one for sale.....the new models are all front firing and won't look like a lamp table like my BK Monolith does.

Is there a WAF to consider? If not have a think about the ugly tube cylinders? I have owned PC25-31plus, PB12+ and currently an impish SB12+ as currently living in a cardboard box. Favourite was the cylinder, mental it was. biggrin

That's the point there is WAF (and TBH my own aesthetic tastes too, but I'll hide behind WAF if that's alright by you biggrin). Also it seems that the boxes are slightly better sounding than the cylinders, but I think they're splitting hairs on that point. I fancied the older twin speaker model; can't remember the model (PB12+ maybe) now but it should have more than enough headroom for me to EQ all the peaks my room causes and still not overdrive it at -10db below reference (my usual 'movie night' listening level).

Sorry to the OP for draging this completely off topic. boxedin

I hope he can swim, it's bucketing it down around here!

No RS1s I'm afraid, I did manage to get my new telly though, a Panasonic G10 50" which is lovely.
