Digging around in the spare room I've unearthed the ancient Toshiba colour portable that my OH has owned for years. Only input into this is a single coax port.

I have a couple of older freeview boxes lying around too (a Whafedale & a Thomson IIRC). Being an AV numpty I was wondering if it's possible to get a SCART to coax cable that would let me hook these up in one of the bedrooms, or would I need something like this modultor to make it work? Maplins

Thanks,
Steve

Scart to co-ax does not happen I'm affraid. Maybe your freeview boxes have an RF modulator built in? Some do some don't, try tuning the TV again and see if it picks up the freeview box. If not an external modulator will work.

Thanks,

Will check for built-in modulator when I get home.

Problem I have is that the boxes have SCART out, the TV only has Coax in - hence the SCART/Coax cable query - but you seem to have solved that if they don't make such a thing!

Just plug in using the co ax connectors and run a tuning scan on the TV and see if it picks up the freeview box, if not then all is not lost, you would need to plug in the freeview box to a TV that has a scart and check in the freeview menu that the modulator is not just turned off like it is with a lot of boxes, if it is then turn it on and re connect back to your first TV and run a tuning scan again.
