OK folks bit of a mystery here, for me at least wink

I went to my parents house on the 30th September and retuned their TV according to the instructions we all received. All was fine with C5 working where it should, the ITV 3 and 4 channels moving to another channel number and a few other channels added here and there. Basically a perfect retune using the reinstall option.

Today my parents call to say C5 now has the "we have moved" message back on the screen and the ITV 3 and 4 channels and a couple of others are not producing a picture. Off I dutifully trot thinking they've buggered the TV somehow and this is what happens:

1. Switch on TV and C5 has the message detailed above and a few other channels, including ITV3 and 4 are not producing a picture.
2. I complete a full reinstall and all channels come back and the world is at peace again
3. Discussing gardens topics with father interrupted by mother 20 mins later to tell me C5 now has "we have moved" message back on screen.
4. Check C5 and ITV3 and 4 and we are back to missing channels again mad
5. I revisit reinstall option and they are still missing mad

I am now confused and need some input from any experts out there. For reference they live in Southend on Sea in Essex and I believe their ariel is pointing at a transmitter in Kent. They are not reliant on a sub station transmitter and the TV set is a Phillips FlatTV which was bought c18 months ago and has worked well from that point, through the retune issue but is now buggered as of this morning.

I have read on a couple of forums that unplugging the TV for an hour or so and then doing a complete reinstall without the ariel connected will clear the memory so that the ariel can then be reconnected and a reinstall successfully completed - is this true confused

Any help gratefully appreciated thumbup

What is the model no of the TV?

Are you hitting the store option after you have done the retune? If not its possible that the changes you make would stay until the TV is turned off and on again.

Similar thing happened here, retuned and got a good list of channels with reasonable reception, now the box has lost quite a few channels including 1 to 5.

I'm off down there again on Friday to see if a "cold boot" resolves the problem. However, I will read through the manual and get an understanding of the full reinstall function and if I need to use the store button after this is complete. If this is not covered I'll try with and without using the store button and see where I am then. Failing that I'll make a note of the model number and see if that helps solving the problem when I repost an update on here.

Today's update....

TV switched off for an hour with ariel disconnected and a reinstall performed as per guidelines in manual that I had followed last time. All channels now back where they should be and providing a crystal clear picture. Left TV for 15 mins and all well, switched off and disconnected from mains for 15 mins and all was well when switched back on and still well an hour later when I left.

Hopefully that's the end of it.
