I'm looking at buying a new plasma/LCD tv. The slightly older models come with built in Freeview, and the newer ones come with Freesat. I presume you need a dish for Freesat? and without it you'll only receive the regular five channels on these newer tv's
If you have a sky dish all the freesat channels you will get through that.I wouldn't worry about either. I've never got the need for a rubbish built in freeview tuner, and why it becomes a buying consideration for people. The external tuners for both freesat and freeview are better than the inbuilt ones that a manufacturer throws in at the cheapest build price possible, and allow recording etc. Most aren't HD, so most people end up adding a seperate box anyway if they want to make use of there shiny new TV. Once HD digital broadcast starts without a sat dish, people will be abandoning the in built tuners even more than they do already.
Personally, I'd rather a cheaper TV in the first place, and a decent external tuner

Cheers guys, just got to decide on a tv now. thinking of a 42" Panasonic plasma, thoughts?
I bought a 42G10 a couple of months ago, very pleased with it. Freeview and Freesat built in gives you the best of both worlds. The only criticism I have is the EPG blanks the screen - with the Topfield PVR it drops the live feed to a window next to the EPG display.Gassing Station | Home Cinema & Hi-Fi | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
